I haven’t always been a fan of the concept of a ‘smart house’, but this internet connected LED bulb from Xiaomi has convinced me otherwise. Called the “Yeelight”, the bulb functions just like a Philips Hue one, with the exception that it’s cheaper.
Despite the price, the bulb is in no way short on features. It has a ten year lifespan, supported integration with IFTTT and Amazon Alexa, and even has a developer mode for those who love to tweak things, making it possibly better than the Hue.
What’s more, the bulb is easily controlled from your phone or tablet, meaning that you can easily manage the ON/OFF schedule, brightness, hue and temperature. I found the temperature changing particularly useful as I prefer different temperatures for different situations.
You can also manage and connect groups of the Yeelight.
I particularly like this lightbulb as it is hassle-free and easy to use, as well as affordable, coming in at an average price of $22, although at the time of writing the price is on special at under $17.
