Netflix finally listened to its users and added downloads for offline viewing at the end of last year. This option lets users conveniently download shows while they have access to the Internet. These shows can later be played offline. Offline playback is the single greatest feature to have while traveling. It can make a six hour flight go by in the blink of an eye.
This option was exclusive to mobile devices until recently. Netflix has expanded this service to Windows 10 users as well. An important note, offline playback will not work in the browser. You will need to go into the Windows Store and download the Netflix app. If you are on a PC, you should absolutely use the Netflix app rather than using the browser. The Netflix app will always be more optimized compared to the web version, which translates to less battery consumption.
There are limitations to what you can download for offline playback. This feature will be limited to Netflix Originals and select licensed content. Netflix has been pumping out great shows such as Stranger Things, House of Cards etc.
Downloading content for offline viewing is very simple. In the Netflix app, click on the down arrow next to the show you want to download. You can manage all your downloads in the menu bar by clicking on “My Downloads”.
